Fees and registration

What juniors and seniors pay each season, the discounts available to volunteers, how to register, and how to set up a payment plan.

Fees are payable directly to Belconnen Ramblers and cover team registration, training, and other club operating costs. Basketball ACT charges its own registration fee on top — currently $70 — covering player insurance and a Basketball Australia development levy, paid through Basketball ACT's own PlayHQ registration form, not to the club directly. Basketball ACT sets this figure, not Ramblers, and it can change between seasons.

Discounts for volunteers

Every volunteer role attracts a discount, and these can accumulate — a committee member who also coaches and manages a team could receive $150 off.

Volunteer discounts:

DiscountAmount
Coach$50 per team, per season
Committee member$50 per season
Team manager$50 per team, per season
Sibling15% off each additional child (non-accumulative)

If you'd like to volunteer, let your coordinator know before registering so a discount code can be issued — codes must be entered during registration to reduce the fee, and can't be applied retroactively.

The committee recognises that other volunteers — assistant coaches and support roles among them — contribute time without currently receiving a discount, and is working on ways to formally recognise them.

Registering as a player

Registration is completed through an online form, provided by Basketball ACT through PlayHQ, that covers both Ramblers and Basketball ACT registration together — fees are collected at the end of it. Ramblers provides the registration URL before the commencement of the season. You'll need a PlayHQ account; use the same account (and email address) for every child to get sibling discounts applied automatically.

  • When — registrations open roughly six weeks before the season starts and close six weeks before it ends, so joining mid-season is possible. New players can't be accepted in the final four weeks (a Basketball ACT rule), but are welcome to train with a team in the meantime.
  • Where — your coordinator emails the registration link; add ramblers.net.au to your safe senders list so it doesn't go to spam.
  • Who — every player and volunteer (coaches, team managers, committee members) registers in PlayHQ. A player registration attracts fees; coach and team manager registrations don't.

Payment plans

If you'd rather spread fees across the season, set up a payment plan by direct debit through Pay Advantage:

2. Set up your direct debitYou're taken straight to Pay Advantage to review and sign the authority. This happens immediately; nobody has to process your request first.
3. We're notifiedAutomatically, the moment you sign — we email you the separate Basketball ACT/PlayHQ registration link to pay the insurance levy.
4. Pay Advantage takes it from therePayments, retries and receipts are all automatic.

Registration isn't complete until both the payment plan and the Basketball ACT registration are done. Questions about a payment plan go to the Treasurer at treasurer@ramblers.net.au.

Equipment costs

All players buy their own Ramblers singlet and shorts in their first season (the club holds a few spare singlets to loan short-term to new players). Basketball size varies by age and gender — see Uniforms & gear for the full sizing guide, ball sizes, and how to order.

Refunds, disputes and other policies

  • Refunds — at the committee's discretion, under the Refunds Policy (POL-011). A full refund (less any Basketball ACT costs already paid) is possible if you ask before the season starts, or if we can't place the player in a team; a partial refund may be given for a season-ending injury, a move out of the ACT, or other exceptional circumstances. Changing your mind after the season starts isn't grounds for a refund. The committee decides within 21 days. Apply for a refund.
  • Clearances — not issued to another club or school until all fees are settled and any loaned Ramblers uniform is returned.
  • Disputes — raised with the Treasurer and/or Club President in the first instance.
  • Fines, loss and damage — a team's duty or forfeit fine is shared equally among that team's members; a player who loses or damages a loaned uniform is invoiced for it.
